We are faced with many choices in a modernized society, but how often do we listen to that little voice inside of us and do what is really good for us?

A very interesting statistic: About 25-30% of children are affected by obesity. And about 40% children haveissues with weight and food.

  1. Food is not always so good for you!

  2. Foods loaded with sugar such as chocolate, cookies, sugar cereals, soda,etc. Foods made with high amount unsaturated oil such as french fries, fish fries, chips, doughnuts, etc

Carbohydrates are very important for the body because carbs contain a great source of sugar which ourbodies can convert to energy in cell through TCA/Kreb cycle.

Carbohydrates give your bodies main source of energy.

What are good foods for us?

-Whole grain

-Whole grain pasta/cereal/etc

-Bread and rice

-Unprossessed meat

-Fruits and vegetables

Many types of vitamins and minerals are needed!

Vitamin B: carrots,spinach, etc.

Vitamin C: Orange,strawberries, etc.

Vitamin E: Almonds, fish, etc.

Calcium

Magnesium

Iodine

Zinc

Iron

Etc.

Some important facts: Eatbreakfast and 3 meals a day. Keep a healthy diet with all categories of nutrients. Don’t limit your food source to just 1 or 2 vegetables or meat. Search around.

So, do the right thing!

Try to walk instead of taking the bus or car.

During breaks and after a meal go for a walk.

Join a gym and stay fit.

Forget about elevators.

Stay active with friends will be motivating and encouraging. It creats more fun when you workout with a group of people.

Aerobics like yoga is another way of staying fit and everyone can do it.

More facts:

More than 80% adults don’t get enough exercise. 1/3 of children in grades 9-12 do not get enough physical activity.

Daily participation in high school PE has droped from 42% to 32%.

Everyone should exercise at least 3 times per week.

Exercise should last at least 30 minutes each time.

Active people have lower premature death rate than people who are the least active.

Physical activities canbring you many health benefits.

Lower the risk of CAD/CVD (Stroke, diabetes, blood pressure, heart attack, depression, anxiety, stress, etc)

Helps build and maintain healthy bones, muscles and joints.
