Adaptations and Nutrition in Sports: Road to Olympic

(International Conference on Adaptations and Nutrition in Sports)

Introduction: ICANS 2018 incorporated the second meeting of Asia Nutrition Society for Sports and Health (2nd ANSSH) which was hosted by the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT, The Ministry of Tourism and Sports) during July 18-20, 2018 at The Bangsaen Heritage Hotel in Chonburi, Thailand. This conference was aimed to initiate the collaborations in sports coaching-training using applications of scientific principles and research outcomes among Asian countries.

The academic programs were arranged by SAT’s colleagues from Khon Kaen, Mahidol, Chulalongkorn, Kasetsart, Burapa Universities and the Institute of Physical Education.


Activities and interesting topics: 

ICANS 2018 was conducted with 3 honorary lectures, 3 highlight symposiums, 9 exchange lectures, 12 symposiums, 6 oral presentation sessions, 7 poster presentation sessions, 3 workshops and 2 lunch talks.

Outstanding speakers: ICANS 2018 recruited experts in exercise and sports science from Asia and most parts of the world.



Young scientist awards: To sustain and enhance human resources, ANSSH encouraged students and young scientists to present their research/works during ICANS 2018. This year awards were offered by The Minister of Tourism and Sports, Dr.Weerasak Kowsurat, for either oral or poster presentations. 


ANSSH future missions: Taiwan will host the next academic conference in 2020 and Singapore in 2022.




ANSSH annual meeting: During ICANS 2018, ANSSH executive committee (EC) annual meeting was arranged on July 19, 2018. Two observers from Kuwait (Prof.Ahmad AL Khatib) and from Jordan (Prof.Ibrahim Dabayebeh) were invited to join and finally nominated as new EC members. This year Dr. Yang, Zeyi had moved to Honorary President and Dr. Rungchai Chaunchaiyakul moved to the President position. Dr. Lee, Jason Kai Wei had been selected to be the next Secretary General. ANSSH EC agreed to create a Certificate in Sports Nutrition and Dr. Jiao, Ying is selected as the Chair for Educational Committee (EdC) to select the team and worked out for the Certified Sports Nutritionist Program by Asian Nutrition Society for Sports and Health (ANSSH), abbreviated as CSNA.
