Professor Alkhatib is a world-leading British expert in lifestyle medicine, with 30-year career. He was educated at the University of Essex before he went on to establish numerous successful programmes at top UK universities (Birmingham City, Teesside, Essex, Sheffield Hallam, Lincoln, Suffolk), and globally as a distinguished Professor of Sport Nutrition at Taipei University, while he also serve as an executive of the Asian Nutrition Society for Sport and Health (ANSSH). He is also a senior investigator of the Global Burden of Disease collaboration. Professor Alkhatib leads Public Health Research Centre at Birmingham City University, UK, with a key focus on lifestyle disease prevention, longevity and reducing health disparities. His work recently led to new Obesity Lifestyle Intervention Guidelines, while he continues to innovate novel applications of functional foods and nutraceuticals to enhance health and sports, including type-2 diabetes, vascular disease, weight-loss, and individual and team sports outcomes. Professor Alkhatib published over 200 top outputs including those in The Lancet and Nature, Five books and sixteen book chapters. He is a Fellow of Royal Society of Medicine, Royal Society of Public Health, a Registered Nutritionist and Clinical Physiologist.
