Masashi Miyashita is a Professor of Exercise Metabolism in the Faculty of Sport Sciences at Waseda University in Japan. He received a BSc (Honours) degree in Physical Education, Sports Science and Recreation Management, an MSc (Distinction) degree in Exercise Physiology and a PhD degree in Exercise Physiology from Loughborough University in the UK. Professor Miyashita’s research interests are in the physiology and nutrition of physical activity and health, with an interest in both the basic science of physical activity and the applied aspects that relate to health in physical activity. To date, Professor Miyashita has published: (i) 100 peer-reviewed journal articles in multidisciplinary journals with high impact factors such as “American Journal of Clinical Nutrition”, “International Journal of Obesity” and “Medicine and Science in Sports Exercise”; (ii) 146 conference abstracts; (iii) 5 book chapters. He has an h-index of 20 and a total of 1432 citations. He has been invited to present at 25 conferences in Japan and 18 international conferences. He has strong international collaborations including, Loughborough University, University of Leeds, National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Clermont Auvergne University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and so on. He is currently supervising 1 Research Associate, 5 PhD students and 7 Master students.
